The Swiss Peak of Breathable, Eco-Friendly Insulation
The Swiss Peak of Breathable, Eco-Friendly Insulation
When building or renovating in Nagano’s extreme mountain climate, standard glass wool or petroleum-based insulation boards quickly reach their limits. At Ecoplus, we rely on Pavatex, a premium wood-fiber insulation system developed and engineered in Switzerland. Made from natural, unadulterated softwood residue from sustainable forestry, Pavatex offers a complete, multi-functional thermal solution that protects your home 365 days a year.
Insulation isn't just about keeping cold air out in winter; it must also block scorching heat in summer. Light synthetic materials allow heat to penetrate into the interior in just a few hours. Pavatex boards possess exceptionally high density and high specific heat capacity 2,100J/kg. This creates a long phase shift (up to 10–12 hours), meaning intense peak afternoon summer heat is absorbed by the wood fiber and only released hours later at night when outdoor temperatures drop and ventilation can flush it away naturally.
In traditional Japanese construction, moisture often gets trapped inside wall cavities behind plastic vapor barriers, causing silent structural timber rot and toxic mold. Pavatex is highly vapor-permeable. It allows humidity contained within the wall assembly to pass safely to the outside while remaining completely windproof and rainproof from the exterior. Your house stays dry, healthy, and structurally sound for generations.
Because Pavatex boards combine high mass with a flexible open-pore fiber structure, they provide superior sound dampening. They effectively absorb both high-frequency airborne sounds (heavy rainfall, wind, traffic) and low-frequency structure-borne vibration, creating a quiet retreat inside.
Throughout their lifespan, trees absorb large amounts of atmospheric CO2. By processing wood chips into insulation without hazardous binding chemicals or toxic flame retardants, Pavatex permanently locks that captured carbon inside your building envelope. It releases zero volatile organic compounds (VOCs) or toxic dust into your indoor air.
